update from B.C

Well, I am sure that everyone is wondering how I am doing especially those of you who haven't heard from me in a while! Well, I arrived in BC late Thursday night (the 9th of Sept) and spent most of the day Friday in the emergency room at Vancouver General hospital getting checked out by a whole team of tropical disease specialists. They put me on an IV to re hydrate me and thankfully they allowed me to go home since many of the symptoms I had while in Haiti had started to go away on their own. I have been back numerous times for more blood work and last time I saw the doctor, they had found out that my liver function was abnormal and so that is what they are currently testing for. They haven't been able to tell me anything yet except that I do have an infection in my blood and my lymphosite levels in my blood are high. The doctor (the head of the Tropical Disease team) thinks that whatever I had while in Haiti has left my system on its own and that I possibly got it because my system was already weak because of whatever is happening with my liver. I am still weak and tire very easily. I am happy to be home especially as my sister Rhonda is due on the 5th of Oct and so I will be here for the birth of my next niece or nephew. But I am missing Haiti and can't wait to be able to return. From what I have heard from another local missionary couple, the area that I live in has not be affected greatly by the storms. They have had some flooding and rain but for our area which is quite low in the valley, flooding is commom and so I am praying that everyone in our area is doing okay.
I will try to keep updating from here as I learn more from the doctors and such.
